Derek Haas is one of Brisbane’s most experienced finance and mortgage brokers, with almost 35 years’ experience in the banking and lending sectors.
Derek founded Haas Associates Loans and Leasing in Fortitude Valley in the year 2000. The company’s longevity—despite the volatility of the real estate market, the impact of the Global Financial Crisis and tightening government broking regulations over the years—is testament to his financial acumen, professionalism and honesty.
Derek is a rare breed of broker—one who has dealt with loan applications from both sides of the counter. He learnt the lending industry from the ground up, working for the NAB in Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast for 12 years.
In 1990, Derek joined one of the country’s first-generation mortgage broking firms, Northern City Finance. Since then, he has negotiated thousands of loans for clients, liaising with dozens of banks and lenders, both big and small.
Derek credits Haas Associates’ success to his loyal clients, who often return years later or refer their friends and family.
Derek is a Commissioner for Declarations, and a member of the MFAA (Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia) and AFCA (Australian Financial Complaints Authority).
